The 21st Century Learning Initiative

The Initiative's Original Mission Statement

First published between 1996 and 2005 by The 21st Century Learning Initiative. The restored edition is in preparation.

This is the Initiative's original statement of purpose, preserved as a primary source: its founding question and its account of itself, distinct from the current About page, which describes the publication as it exists now.

The original text is being recovered from archived captures of 21learn.org and will be republished at this address in full, with its provenance stated and new editorial commentary kept clearly separate from the historical text.

Until the restoration is complete, the nearest live material is the research archive, the restored flagship reference on cognitive apprenticeship, and the current briefings.
