Briefings

A briefing here is what it was in the Initiative's parliamentary years: a short, sourced paper that puts the strongest available evidence in front of a person who must decide something, written to be read in one sitting and cited without embarrassment. The Initiative circulated papers in this form to policymakers for two decades; this pillar continues the format.

Current briefings

The opening slate of new briefings is in preparation, led by Seven Questions for the Select Committee, on what a legislature should actually ask before regulating AI in schools. New briefings publish here first and carry no provenance line; they are current work, not restorations.

The historical briefing archive

The restored record shows what the format can do. Schools in the Future, the April 2010 briefing, predicted a decade of schooling and can now be audited against what happened. The account of Building Schools for the Future examines what England's school-building programme promised about learning. The wider corpus is in the research archive.

Cite restored briefings by their original year and the Initiative as author, with this site's address and your access date. New briefings carry their publication date at the top. For citation questions, contact the editors.
