Where Did Grammar Schools Come From?
First published circa 2011 by The 21st Century Learning Initiative. The restored edition is in preparation.
The history runs from Latin grammar schools in the medieval church, through the Tudor and Elizabethan expansion, to the modern argument about selection. It pairs with the restored pages on the tripartite system.
The original text is being recovered from archived captures of 21learn.org and will be republished at this address in full, with its provenance stated and new editorial commentary kept clearly separate from the historical text.
Until the restoration is complete, the nearest live material is the research archive, the restored flagship reference on cognitive apprenticeship, and the current briefings.
